Change in direction

I have found over the past several months that my focus and inspiration has changed significantly within Interior Design. I seem to appreciate so much more, rather than just the same old and one particular style that keeps on keeping on! I surprise myself that I even like a bit of Art Deco, or fall in love with a reproduction chair I would have once never found myself even looking at. My life is so focused on all things interiors and I seem to learn more and more every day.

Not long ago, I visited Decoration and Design in Sydney, and was lucky enough to meet and listen to Martyn Laurence Bullard and built relationships with so many lovely people. Maybe it's these types of events that open your eyes to a lot more than what you experience in your day to day life!

I have been busy lately creating some beautiful spaces for my clients to enjoy. One in particular is a window seat, with beautifully upholstered cushions that my client has in her bedroom. She can now sit and enjoy the sun shining through her plantation shutters whilst comforted by a cup of tea, a great book and stunning fabrics.

What is next..................?

Inspired by Colour!

After a recent holiday in QLD and being exposed to all the vibrant colour that queenslanders constantly use in thier interiors, it has become clear I am madly in love with colour!

One of my fave shops in Brisbane was Magnolia, Fortitude Valley. They have recently moved premises and all I can say is Wow!! They were doing Chrismas themed tables for a Home Beautiful shoot that were absolutley breath taking. Everything was on mass. Chinese lanterns in red and white spots, bunches and bunches of flowers and my now favourite thing........colour!

Magnolia table setting.

It was a fantastic holiday, not only totally inspiring, but great to spend so much time with much loved family and friends.

Decorating Workshop

Here are some beautiful photo's of the Decorating Workshop held at The White Shed in Maitland. Above you can see the stunning selection of fabrics that guests used to create vibrant colour schemes.

'Being creative with upholstery' was another topic discussed at the workshop.

And of course this day was topped off with a beautiful array of sweet and savoury treats and delicious champagne. A big thank you to Letitia, owner of The White Shed for hosting the day at her beautiful home and also to Kelly Dyett for the stunning photos.

Fabric Surprise!

In collaboration with The White Shed, Linen Press Interiors held the first of hopefully many creative workshops. Letitia Linke owner and chief stylist of The White Shed, hosted the day at her stunning home in Maitland. The guests were allowed to take over her home, to transform and  create beautiful and unique displays. They also put together their own colour schemes in relation to the colour predictions for 2012. It was truly an exciting and fun day, more so it was a great opportunity to meet some wonderful girls, talk decorating and have a cheeky glass of bubbles.

I selected some fabrics to present to the workshop as it was a great opportunity for the girls to see some of the latest styles available and also look at some favourites.

The gorgeous tulip toile below was a huge hit. Despite it being one of my favourite designs, I never expected it would create such an amazing response. It presents so many options within any interior. It would look fantastic as a bedhead, cushions or even a beautiful soft roman blind.

Photo's of the workshop coming soon!

The Journey Begins!

Inspired by all things beautiful I felt the desire to commit to my passion and knowledge within the world of interiors and establish my own business. April 2011 saw the launch of Linen Press Interiors, a fresh and exciting interior design consultancy house operating out of Adelaide, South Australia.

My life in interior design started eleven years ago while living and travelling through Europe. Immediately drawn to the cultural diversity I soon found myself examining how this was reflected within its architecture and design. The range of expressions, a new world of beautiful interiors and creativeness, the antique, the modern. I wanted to learn more. Upon completing design studies in London I returned home and commenced working for one of Australia's largest textile manufacturers, more recently I was employed as the Interior Decorator for David Jones Adelaide.

With a wonderful network of family and friends, I would like to take this opportunity to thank them all for their continued support as I pursue, put simply, what I love doing.

I look forward to sharing ideas with you, keeping you up to date on Linen Press Interiors news, projects and reviews and most importantly hope you get inspiration to decorate that much loved room.
